Happy Recap: Mets 3 Nationals 1

A great start by El Duque covered up some more anemic offense. His only blip was a home run to Felipe Lopez. But he almost didn't get the win.

Lastings Milledge got an RBI (a familiar refrain) in the fourth inning to give the Mets the lead, but the Mets didn't score again until the 7th inning after El Duque was lifted for a pinch hitter. Reyes doubled, Gotay singled him home then Wright walked and Delgado singled home Gotay to give the Mets their winning margin.

Aaron Heilman and Billy Wagner did the work in relief. Wagner has now saved 24 out of 25 games and lowered his ERA to 1.37.
