Happy Recap: Mets 6 Marlins 5

Very similar game to the first game of this series, but this time Wagner held on. Just barely. He started the 9th by giving up a single to left, but when Florida brought a pitcher on to sacrifice, he hit him in the knee. That made first and second and none out. The next batter tried to sacrifice also which would have made it second and third and one out. Thankfully, Hanley Ramirez couldn't get the bunt down. With two strikes, he went for it again and struck out by bunting foul. After that Wagner settled down and struck out Uggla and Cabrera for the save. A huge save for him. It would have been a disaster for him to play 2 saves in a row, especially after taking a 6-0 lead.

The Mets jumped out to that lead with 4 in the first as everyone reached base except for David Wright. Then they tacked one in the second and one in the third. All runs helped by four Florida errors.

The Marlins battled back as another Mets pitcher faded. This time Trachsel waited until the 6th to fall apart, allowing solo homers to Ramirez and Cabrera.

Roberto Hernandez came in to get the last out of the 6th, which he did, but he ran into trouble in the 7th. He struck out the first batter, but he reached on a passed ball. Then Wes Helms dunked one in front of Endy Chavez. Bert got the next two batters but then Willie took him out. Feliciano walked the bases loaded and then Chad Bradford came in to face Miguel Cabrera. Bradford started the season almost perfect with inherited runners. Then he slowly backslid to great, now he's down to just good, as Cabrera singled in two runs to make the score 6-5. In Bradford's defense, he did throw several pitches to Cabrera that should have been called strikes.

The Mets had chances in the 9th after the loaded the bases with none out. Wright hit a week flyball then Floyd struck out on a questionable pitch and got himself ejected. And Valentin made the third out.

But Billy Wagner bounced back as a good closer should.

Steve Trachsel got his 10th win of the year. Now he is only one behind Tom Glavine, pretty amazing considering that when Glavine won his on June 9th, he had 9 wins and Trachsel only had 2.
