Happy Recap: Mets 5 Nationals 0

The second one-hitter of the year by a Mets pitcher. Glavine got the first one, which was also shortened by rain.

Lastings Milledge continues to get clutch hits, driving home Reyes with a single in the first inning. He had bunted foul on the first pitch of the at bat. I hate that strategy, the Mets do it all the time. You should not sacrifice bunt in the first inning. It's too early to play for one run. You need to trust your guys to get hits and start a rally and put up a bigger number. Thankfully Milledge swung away and got the RBI hit.

And the other great Met who has given the team a boost recently is Ramon Castro. He crushed one deep to centerfield for a 2-run homer that really put the game away.

John Maine is now 12-5 with a 2.92 ERA. If he keeps this up he should definitely finish in the top 5 in Cy Young Award voting.
