Unhappy Recap: Reds 8 Mets 4
John Maine got off to a terrible start. Freel ripped one past Wright who was playing in. Then Hopper bunted for a single. He walked Griffey and Phillips hit a grand slam.
The Mets once again failing with runners in scoring position. With first and second and none out in the third, with one run in, Wright struck out, Delgado singled, but Gotay couldn't score, then LoDuca hit into a double play.
In the fourth, Harang and Maine both struck out the side in order. Six batters, six strikeouts.
Gotay's bad defense cost the Mets in the fifth. First he bobbled a ball hit by Freel. Then he gave Reyes a bad toss on what should have been a force out, almost getting Reyes killed by the sliding Freel.
The error was given to Reyes but then changed to Gotay.
The one bright spot was Lastings Milledge who homered late in the game.
