Unhappy Recap: Phillies 5 Mets 2

Timely hitting is the key to any baseball team. The Mets keep getting guys on and failing to get them in. Everytime Reyes is on third with less than two outs Beltran and Delgado need to get him in.

This game is showing why Oliver Perez is not a consistent major league pitcher. He loaded the bases on walks in the second, but got out of it. In the third he gave up a single, then walked four straight, giving up two runs. 7 walks in three innings. You can't have that. If they can't fix this problem Perez is never going to be a good major league pitcher.

Bases loaded and no outs and Alou hits into a double play. You need to get a hit there, or a sacrifice fly. You can't come back from a 3 run lead without getting hits with men on base.

Those were the two key situations of the game, Perez walking 7, and Alou hitting into a double play with no outs. After that Sele pitched ok but the offense did nothing.

The next game is very important now as the Mets could lose series to both the Braves and Phillies, and they'd be 1-4 after a 4-0 start.
